Dunwich, great beach with views of Southwold and Sizewell B, local museum, pub and café – 3 miles
Top hack: walk along the beach to Walberswick and return via the atmospheric reed beds, home to some amazing birdlife.
RSPB Minsmere. Coastal nature reserve with abundant woods and wetlands - 2.5 miles
Top hack: head to the coastal lagoons to see avocets, bearded tits and bitterns.
Aldeburgh. Upmarket seaside town famous for its annual music festival, and its fish and chips - 7 miles
Top hacks: visit in the morning to see the fishermen land their catches on the shingle beach. In June, check out the celebrated Aldeburgh Festival of Music.
Walberswick. Pretty coastal village with idyllic cottages and beach huts - 6 miles
Top hack: see the boats at the mouth of the River Blyth, take a ferry ride over the river to buy some fresh fish then visit neighbouring Southwold.
Southwold. Charming beach huts, working lighthouse and iconic pier - 7 miles
Top hack: take a tour of the famous Adnams Sole Bay Brewery and Copper House Distillery. Adnams has been brewing here since 1872.
Sutton Hoo. Museum and Anglo-Saxon burial ground – 15 miles
Top hack: climb the 17-metre tower for a panoramic view of the burial mounds.
